Many Waters

"He sent from above, He took me; He drew me out of many waters." Psalm 18:16

God uses His "many waters" to illustrate the struggles, failures and triumphs of life. Each reminds us to seek and find our hope in Jesus Christ alone.

1.  A closer walk with God

Thirst-quenching brooks

"As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul for You, O God." Psalm 42:1

2. God moves in a mysterious way

Roaring waters

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear... though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled." Psalm 46:1-3

"Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!" Romans 11:33

3. Swept Away

Bitter water

"Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?" James 3:11

"...though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing." 1 Corinthians 13:2

4. Snail

Lonely, waterless land

"Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God... lest when you have eaten and are full... your heart is lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God... who led you through... that great and terrible wilderness... and thirsty land where there was no water.... then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’" Dt 8:11-17

5. Circles

Deep waters and whirling floods

"I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. I am weary with my crying... my eyes fail while I wait for my God." Psalm 69:1-3

"If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink...." John 7:37

6. Waiting

Broken cistern or God's ever-flowing Fountain?

"My people... have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn themselves cisterns--broken cisterns that can hold no water." Jeremiah 2:13

Yet, "the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you.” Isaiah 30:18

7. Face to face

Wells of Salvation

"They shall see His face...." Revelation 22:4

"...with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation." Is 12:2-3

8. Palace

The crystal-clear River of Life

"And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life....  And the Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!' And let him who hears say, 'Come!' And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely." Revelation 22:1-2, 17
