Seeking God

[not counterfeits or illusions]

"If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory." Colossians 3:1-4

"...seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." Matthew 6:33

"...do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ." Galatians 1:10

God is in none of his thoughts."

To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.
They have all turned aside, they have together become corrupt..."

That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion...
He shall set me high upon a rock."
Psalm 27:3-5

"If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you."
Matthew 7:7

O God, You are my God; early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.
So I have looked for You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.
Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise You.
Thus I will bless You while I live;
I will lift up my hands in Your name.
My soul shall be satisfied...
And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.
When I remember You on my bed,
I meditate on You in the night watches.
Because You have been my help,
Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.
My soul follows close behind You;
Your right hand upholds me."

Proverb 8:17

Jesus said:

John 6:26-27

"But as we have been approved by God  to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God  who tests our hearts. For  neither at any time did we use flattering words, as you know, nor a  cloak for covetousness —  God is witness. Nor did we seek glory from men..." 1 Thessalonians 2:4-6

"O Lord, Teach me to seek you,

and reveal yourself to me when I seek you.

For I cannot seek you unless you first teach me,
nor find you unless you first reveal yourself to me."

Ambrose of Milan, (340 - 397 AD)

This faithful saint battled deception in the early church. He led believers in a firm stand against the heretical beliefs promoted by the current emperor of the Roman empire,  Constantius (son of Constantine the Great).
